Barcelona targets RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has identified RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba as a primary target to strengthen the club’s defense. The 23-year-old French international is highly regarded for his pace, physical strength, and ability to build attacks from the back.
Acquiring the left-footed center-back could potentially cost Barcelona more than €50 million, though some reports suggest his release clause was recently adjusted to €80 million. Because of financial constraints, Barcelona may need to sell existing players to fund the move. Potential departures that could generate necessary capital include Alejandro Baldé or Jules Koundé.
Lukeba joined RB Leipzig from Lyon in 2023 and has since become a key player, making over 100 appearances for the German side. His current contract runs until 2029, providing RB Leipzig with significant leverage in any negotiations.
