Barcelona theatres keep stage alive in August with new comedies and performances

From 3 to 23 August, several Barcelona theatres continue to offer programmes despite the summer heat. The Teatre Poliorama opens the month with the comedy “La Truita” by Baptiste Aman, starring Emma Vilarasau and Jordi Boixadé. The Teatre Goya extends its run to 9 August with Marta Buchaca’s comedy “Una bufetada a temps”, exploring family authority. The Teatre Gaudí presents Jordi Galceran’s play “Cancún”, a Caribbean‑set comedy about alternate life choices, running until 16 August. While many public venues suspend their schedules, these venues keep doors open, providing air‑conditioned spaces and a mix of improvisation, family‑oriented humor and contemporary Catalan translations.

The continued offerings aim to attract audiences who might otherwise disperse to beaches or mountains, ensuring that Barcelona’s cultural life remains vibrant throughout the traditionally quiet summer period.
