Barcelona traffic fatalities surpass 2024 and 2025 totals
Barcelona has recorded 12 traffic fatalities so far in 2026, a figure that already exceeds the total number of deaths for both 2024 and 2025. The most recent incident involved the death of a truck driver on the Ronda del Litoral.
Among the victims this year, motorcyclists are the most affected group with five deaths. Other casualties include one cyclist and three pedestrians. In contrast, no drivers of cars, vans, or trucks died in traffic accidents in Barcelona during 2025.
The association Stop Accidents has called for increased attention to road safety, emphasizing the need to prevent alcohol consumption while driving, respect speed limits, and avoid mobile phone use. Marilina Ferrer, the organization's director, stated that “something is failing” regarding these mortality rates.
