Barcelona train lines disrupted by repeated copper cable thefts
Multiple train lines in the Barcelona commuter rail network (Rodalies) experienced delays and service disruptions on Saturday morning due to copper cable thefts.
One theft occurred between Estació de França and the Glòries-Clot junction, affecting the R2 Sud line and regional southern trains. This incident initially reduced service frequency to two trains per hour between Sant Vicenç de Calders and Passeig de Gràcia. A second theft between La Sagrera and Badalona caused delays on the R1 line.
User advocacy groups, including Dignitat a les Vies and Afectats per Rodalies, reported that this marks the fifth instance of cable theft within a single week. The groups have criticized the management of Adif and Renfe, calling the repeated disruptions a “torture” for commuters and demanding increased police presence and government intervention to secure the infrastructure.
