Barcelona urban plan to create new district and health campus

A new urban development plan for the Clínic-UB Health Campus aims to transform the area around Diagonal, creating a new metropolitan district that connects Barcelona, Esplugues de Llobregat, and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.

The project involves a total investment of approximately 1.7 billion euros and is expected to be operational by 2035, coinciding with the opening of a new metro station. The expanded campus will cover 500,000 square meters, with 380,000 square meters dedicated to health equipment and research, and 120,000 square meters for complementary uses, such as residences for researchers and medical residents.

The plan includes the construction of up to 1,125 homes, with at least 50% designated as protected official housing. Approximately 800 of these units will be located in L'Hospitalet, with the remainder in Barcelona. Additionally, the development will feature three interconnected green spaces designed to act as ecological corridors between Collserola and the city.
