Barcelona's Tapas 24 Marks 20 Years as Suru Gains Praise
Tapas 24, a Barcelona restaurant founded by chef Carles Abellan—who previously worked at El Bulli and earned Michelin stars—celebrates its 20th anniversary. The venue, known for its share‑style plates and seasonal seafood, has retained its original décor featuring Sevillian motifs while adding Catalan‑language signage on menus, coasters and wall art, reflecting Abellan’s commitment to the local language.
The city’s newer eatery Suru, located on a discreet street entrance, offers a minimalist setting with an open kitchen and a rotating menu focused on seasonal vegetables, local producers and charcoal grilling. Signature dishes highlighted by reviewers include oysters with ajoblanco, cured cod with matcha vinaigrette, and pork “torreznos” with lime dressing, all priced between €30 and €50 per person.
