Barcelos Municipality awards floral decoration prizes

The Municipality of Barcelos has concluded the “Barcelos Florido” competition, an initiative designed to enhance the urban aesthetics of Barcelos and the parishes of Barcelinhos and Arcozelo through floral decoration.

In the individual category, the first prize was awarded to the balcony of the Círculo Católico de Operários de Barcelos. The second place went to António Manuel Faria Ribeiro Novo in Barcelinhos, and the third to Maria Antónia da Silva Araújo in Arcozelo.

Collective awards were also presented, with Rua Fernando Magalhães receiving the “Best Street” award and Largo da Igreja in Barcelinhos recognized as the “Best Square/Field.” The competition aims to promote a greener, more welcoming urban environment and support local tourism by encouraging the traditional Portuguese practice of decorating windows and balconies with natural plants.
