Barco Brasil enters Route du Rhum transatlantic race
The Class40 sailing vessel Barco Brasil is set to compete in the Route du Rhum race, departing from Saint-Malo, France, on November 1. The race involves a solo crossing of approximately 6,560 kilometers toward Guadeloupe in the Caribbean.
Belgian skipper Gaëtan Thomas will command the vessel alone for the estimated 15 to 20 day journey. This follows the boat's previous success in the Globe40 around-the-world race, where it won the Sharp category under the command of José Guilherme Caldas and Luiz Bolina.
In conjunction with the race, the project is supporting the “Cada Minuto Conta” (Every Minute Counts) campaign to mark World Stroke Day. The initiative aims to raise global awareness regarding the rapid recognition of stroke symptoms and the importance of emergency medical response.
