Bares für Rares features family portraits and antique collectibles

Recent episodes of the ZDF antiques show ‘Bares für Rares’ featured several notable items and emotional exchanges. In one segment, a couple from Frankfurt, Cazibe and Felix, brought an 1846 oil portrait by Julius Amatus Roeting. The painting depicted Felix’s ancestor, Albert Fulda, who was himself a miniature painter. Despite strong advice from expert Dr. Bianca Berding and various dealers to keep the family heirloom, the couple proceeded with the sale.

Other participants brought diverse collectibles to the show. Thomas Kurkamp from Hiddenhausen presented a bronze figure of a naked athlete with a rapier, designed after a work by Berlin artist Schmidt-Felling and dating to the 1910s or 1920s. Additionally, Frank Hofmann and Ralf Fleckenhaus from Brühl offered a rare Rosenthal porcelain Pierrot figure from the Art Deco era, which received a mixed appraisal from expert Dr. Friederike Werner regarding its current market value.
