Housing developments proposed and approved in Hampshire and Huntingdonshire
New housing developments have been proposed or approved in rural areas of England. In Medstead, Hampshire, developer Bargate has submitted a reserved matters planning application for 62 homes on a 3.28-hectare site. The project, which received outline permission from East Hampshire District Council in January, includes a mix of one- to five-bedroom houses and bungalows. Notably, 40 per cent of the units will be designated as affordable housing through Bargate’s parent company, Vivid. The plans also feature pedestrian and cycle routes, public open spaces, and a children’s play park.
In Colne, Huntingdonshire District Council has approved a plan by Meadowbarn Developments Ltd to construct six detached homes. The development involves demolishing an existing bungalow and outbuildings on a 0.4-hectare site. The project was approved to help address the council’s lack of a five-year supply of deliverable housing sites. The approved scheme consists of six 1.5-storey chalet-style bungalows.
