Barge collision shifts central span of bridge in Ca Mau

A barge carrying a crane and construction materials collided with the Food Products Bridge (Nông Sản Thực Phẩm) in Dam Doi commune, Ca Mau province, on the afternoon of October 26. The collision occurred when the crane mounted on the barge, identified by registration number VR09029320 and owned by Tuan Hien Construction Company, struck the bridge structure while passing underneath.

The impact caused the central span of the cable-stayed bridge to shift approximately 50 to 60 cm from its original position. As a result, authorities have temporarily cordoned off the bridge and suspended all traffic to ensure public safety and facilitate an investigation.

Local officials from the Dam Doi People's Committee are working with the Hoa Trung Waterway Police Station and the Ca Mau Provincial Traffic Police to assess the structural damage, determine the exact cause of the incident, and handle the matter according to legal regulations.
