Bari authorities conduct arrests in mafia murder investigations
Italian authorities have carried out a dual operation involving arrests related to two mafia-linked murders committed in 2021 in the Bari and Canosa di Puglia regions. The operation was coordinated by the Bari District Anti-Mafia Directorate and executed by the Carabinieri and State Police.
In the case of Sabino Servarolo, who disappeared five years ago in Canosa di Puglia, authorities arrested Sabino Carbone and Claudio Pellegrino. They are accused of murder and concealing a corpse. Investigations suggest Servarolo was killed after allegedly threatening to report Carbone’s previous illicit activities to law enforcement.
Separate arrests were made regarding the 2021 murder of Ivan Lopez, an individual linked to the Strisciuglio clan, who was killed in the San Girolamo neighborhood of Bari. This follows a previous conviction in July where Davide Lepore was sentenced to life imprisonment for the killing.
