Bari community cleans Japigia green spaces

Nearly 100 volunteers, including families, children, and local youth, participated in a collective cleanup of the green areas surrounding the San Marco parish in the Japigia district of Bari. The initiative was organized by the parish in collaboration with Retake Bari, Legambiente Puglia, and the Magic Bari sports association.

Participants collected a total of 256 kg of waste across 36 bags, consisting of 210 kg of unsorted waste, 40 kg of glass, and 6 kg of plastic. The cleanup focused on the lands surrounding the church, the external courtyard, and areas adjacent to the parking lot.

The event concluded the ‘Ottobre Francescano’ program, a series of initiatives held by the San Marco parish to commemorate the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi. The project aimed to promote environmental stewardship and active citizenship, particularly engaging children from the local catechism classes.
