Bari launches BRT construction, traffic changes on Corso Vittorio Emanuele

From 29 June to 29 July the city of Bari will carry out temporary traffic modifications on Corso Vittorio Emanuele II between Piazza IV Novembre and Via Sparano to allow work on its new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. The works include lane narrowing, a 30 km/h speed limit, and a prohibition of parking on both sides of the road, while at least one lane will remain open for traffic under the control of two traffic marshals.

The BRT will introduce four main lines – Blue, Red, Lilac and Green – connecting the central station, the historic centre, the north‑west quadrant, the south‑east areas and the Parco Due Giugno. Two new stations will be built on the work stretch, one serving the Red and Lilac lines and another serving the Blue, Red and Lilac lines. The system aims to provide faster, more accessible public transport with modern shelters and real‑time information.

During the construction period the municipality will install temporary signage and guide drivers to alternative routes, ensuring that traffic flow is maintained while the BRT infrastructure is created.
