Bari launches extensive road resurfacing and drainage upgrades in Carboneria and Carbonara districts
From 6 July to 21 August, the municipality of Bari will carry out a full resurfacing of Corso della Carboneria, including the replacement of the pavement and the bike lane. The works, executed by Acquedotto Pugliese, will involve temporary traffic restrictions such as alternating one‑way flow, no‑parking zones and possible lane closures, with the site operating weekdays 07:00‑17:00 and occasional weekend work if needed.
On 26 June, work resumed on Piazza Umberto in the Carbonara neighbourhood. The project, funded by a €1.5 million advance from the Puglia Region as part of a €4 million drainage programme, will rebuild all stone sidewalks to meet barrier‑free standards and install a new “white” storm‑water sewer network around the square. Earlier works on Via Vaccarella installed rain‑water capture grids and chambers to reduce flooding. The upgraded drainage will extend from the Carbonara roundabout to Ceglie, strengthening hydraulic safety for the area.
