Bari Mayor Leccese Demands Stadium Guarantees and Fast‑Tracks €16 Million Maintenance Funding

Mayor Vito Leccese held a press conference on 13 June urging the owner of SSC Bari, Luigi De Laurentiis, to provide clear guarantees for the club’s future ownership before the municipal authority releases the San Nicola stadium for the upcoming season. Leccese stated that the city cannot force the sale but can condition stadium use on a transparent transfer plan, a new management mandate, and a city‑appointed guarantee committee.

In a separate initiative, Leccese ordered the immediate deployment of a €16 million surplus from the municipal budget to accelerate urgent maintenance on roads, sidewalks, schools, public green spaces and market facilities. He emphasized that bureaucratic delays should not impede essential services, saying “when the city needs an intervention, citizens do not wait for the calendar of procedures.” The funds will be earmarked for the most pressing local requests, aiming to improve public infrastructure without waiting for the usual end‑July budget adjustment.
