Bari Mayor monitors school reopening traffic via control room

Bari Mayor Vito Leccese visited the Local Police operational room to monitor city mobility during the reopening of schools. Accompanied by councilors Carla Palone and Domenico Scaramuzzi, the Mayor observed the management of traffic flows during the critical morning peak hours.

The city utilizes an integrated control room system featuring 1,050 cameras and real-time data from platforms such as Waze and Google Maps. This technology allows operators to adjust traffic light timings to alleviate congestion and provides a comprehensive view of urban movement.

The system is also linked with AMTAB, the local public transport provider, enabling real-time tracking of bus locations, schedule adherence, and passenger numbers. Mayor Leccese noted satisfaction with the traffic flow between 7:30 AM and 8:20 AM but emphasized the need for continued vigilance as more schools reopen. He announced plans to strengthen police presence and monitoring during school arrival and departure times.
