Bari mayor Vito Leccese meets German vice‑ambassador and calls for SSC Bari ownership clarity

The mayor of Bari, Vito Leccese, received German Vice‑Ambassador and Head of the Economic Office Benjamin Hanna at the city palace, discussing institutional and economic relations, possible cooperation projects and the prospect of twinning Bari with German cities.

At the same time, Leccese urged the De Laurentiis family, owners of football club SSC Bari, to clarify the club’s future ownership structure. He warned that under current federation rules the family could lose control after June 2028 unless the regulations change, and he demanded a transparent dialogue with the city, citing growing fan discontent and a strained relationship with the owners.
