Bari names veteran Pierpaolo Marino as new director general

Italian Serie C club SSC Bari announced the appointment of Pierpaolo Marino as its new director general as part of a rebuilding plan after its recent relegation. Marino, a 68‑year‑old executive with a nearly five‑decade career, has previously held senior roles at Napoli, Roma, Udinese, Atalanta and other Serie A clubs, including involvement in the Maradona transfer and multiple European qualifications. The club said Marino will work with owner Luigi De Laurentiis and local authorities, including mayor Vito Leccese, on sport and commercial strategies and on the stadium San Nicola arrangement. The hiring is intended to steer Bari back toward higher divisions.

The announcement follows informal reports by the mayor and a formal club statement confirming Marino’s start in the coming week.
