Bari police impose €1,000 fines for illegal waste dumping in two neighborhoods

Bari’s municipal police continued their territory‑wide inspections to enforce the city’s waste‑disposal ordinance. In the Madonnella district, surveillance footage identified a man who, with an unidentified accomplice, abandoned a sofa on a public street. The offender received a €1,000 fine and a warning.

In Torre a Mare, inspectors traced the dumping of dozens of sacks and cardboard near recycling containers to the owner of a licensed food‑truck. He was also fined €1,000 and issued a formal notice. Local police official Carla Palone emphasized that the aim is not punishment but to curb uncivil behaviour that harms the community and raises maintenance costs.

The fines are intended to reinforce urban decency, environmental protection, and quality of life for residents.
