Bari records highest vehicle theft rates in Puglia region

The province of Bari has recorded the highest number of vehicle thefts in the Puglia region, with 5,385 cars stolen over a twelve-month period. This figure represents approximately 35% of all car thefts reported in Puglia.

Data from the Ministry of the Interior indicates that Puglia ranks fourth in Italy for vehicle theft, following Campania, Lazio, and Sicily. In total, the region saw 15,501 cars stolen, along with nearly 1,400 motorcycles and mopeds. In Bari, theft statistics also extend to two-wheeled vehicles, with 372 motorcycles and 127 mopeds reported stolen.

Despite the high frequency of these incidents, insurance uptake remains low in the region. Only 15.5% of motorists in Puglia hold a theft insurance policy.
