Bari Weiss' CBS News ratings hit historic lows amid newsroom shake‑up
CBS Morning recorded its lowest‑ever weekly audience, averaging 1.59 million viewers for the week of July 13, a 13 percent drop from the previous year. The slump marks the worst ratings in the program’s history since its 2021 debut and reflects broader viewership declines across CBS News under editor‑in‑chief Bari Weiss.
The ratings decline coincides with criticism of recent changes at flagship shows. CBS Evening News, anchored by Tony Dokoupil, also sees historically low numbers. Within 60 Minutes, veteran correspondent Scott Pelley was dismissed after reportedly telling Weiss the program was being “murdered.” Other correspondents, including Sharyn Alfonsi, Cecilia Vega and Anderson Cooper, have left the show. CBS News is owned by David Ellison’s Paramount Skydance, noted for its MAGA‑friendly stance.
