Bari Weiss scrutinized for CBS coverage bias and conservative billionaire links
Investigative journalist John Solomon asked CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss why the network treated China’s acquisition of voter data in the United Kingdom and the United States differently. He highlighted CBS’s serious coverage of the UK case – where 40 million British voter files were obtained – contrasted with a more muted tone when former President Trump announced that China had acquired 220 million U.S. voter files. Solomon quoted his own tweet: “Hey [Bari Weiss], when Biden admin announced China obtained 40 million of Great Britain’s publicly available voter files… but when DJT announced China got 240 million of Americans voter files your team dismissed like it was no big deal. Why?”
A separate report shows Weiss strengthening professional ties with conservative billionaire Mathias Döpfner, CEO of Germany’s Axel Springer. Döpfner invited Weiss to speak at the 2026 Axel Springer Award ceremony in Berlin, where she will share the stage with Peter Thiel, a noted Trump ally. Neither CBS News nor Axel Springer commented on the arrangement, but the association is seen as aligning Weiss with a network of right‑wing media figures.
