Barilla to invest €100 million in new Foggia pasta hub

Barilla has announced a strategic industrial reconfiguration in Southern Italy, headlined by a €100 million investment to create an integrated pasta hub in Foggia. Scheduled to take place between 2028 and 2030, the project involves constructing a next-generation mill to serve the existing pasta factory, aiming to improve production efficiency, logistics, and sustainability for both Italian and international markets.

As part of this restructuring, Barilla plans to redefine the role of several other southern sites by bringing in industrial partners. Advanced negotiations are underway for Pastificio Liguori to acquire the Marcianise plant in Caserta, and for Molino Casillo to acquire mills in Altamura (Bari) and Castelplanio (Ancona). Barilla has stated that maintaining employment continuity for all workers involved is a fundamental prerequisite for these operations.

The plan has received support from Puglia's regional president, Antonio Decaro, who highlighted the importance of strengthening the link between agriculture and food processing in the region. Local business groups have also welcomed the news, calling for improved infrastructure and energy solutions to support the growing industrial area.
