Bariloche court orders dog owner to pay 20 million pesos after attack

A civil court in Bariloche, Argentina, has ordered a dog owner to pay more than 20 million pesos in compensation following an attack on a woman in a public area. The victim suffered severe physical and psychological injuries after two dogs emerged from a residence and attacked her.

The attack resulted in deep wounds affecting skin, tissue, and ligaments, requiring four surgeries, including a skin graft. The court applied a regime of objective responsibility under the Civil and Commercial Code, meaning the owner is liable for the damages caused by the animals regardless of proven fault. The total indemnity of 20,818,991 pesos covers physical, psychological, and moral damages.
