Bariloche joins Río Negro provincial financial compensation agreement

San Carlos de Bariloche has joined a provincial financial compensation agreement in Río Negro, Argentina. Mayor Walter Cortés signed a transitory agreement with the provincial government in Viedma to strengthen municipal resources.

The measure follows a period of dialogue and six regional working groups between the province and various municipalities. The goal is to provide local governments with the funds necessary to address community growth, evolving demands, and the maintenance of public services.

These agreements are temporary and will remain in place while a comprehensive update to the municipal coparticipation regime is developed. The compensation will be funded by the provincial treasury and is designed to account for the specific needs and unique circumstances of each locality.
