Bariloche municipal charter reform drives alliance talks

In Bariloche, parties are racing to form alliances ahead of the election for a Constitutional Convention that will overhaul the city’s municipal charter on 1 November. The provincial electoral court set 12 August at 9:30 a.m. as the deadline for alliances, and lists of candidates must be filed by 7 September.

Mayor Walter Cortés (PUL) and Governor Alberto Weretilneck (JSRN) are discussing a joint slate, while other groups such as Fuerza Patria, Frente Renovador, the UCR, ARI and various left‑wing and neighbourhood formations hold their own strategy meetings and surveys. The process is seen as a barometer of political positioning ahead of the 2027 national elections.
