Bariloche volunteers build safe, efficient stoves for residents

In Bariloche, a volunteer organization of approximately 30 people is constructing safe and efficient stoves for residents lacking adequate heating. The initiative, led by Albano Nano Geliberti, focuses on providing heating solutions to vulnerable populations, specifically single mothers with children, to prevent respiratory issues caused by toxic gases and reduce fire risks.

The group builds two types of stoves: the ‘Estufa Isleña’, made from recycled 200-liter oil drums with a brick combustion chamber that also allows for cooking, and the ‘Chuncana’ design from Córdoba. These stoves are designed to be economically impactful, potentially reducing firewood consumption by half. Additionally, the group has launched a sub-project called ‘Chau Chiflete’ to seal wall gaps and improve home insulation.
