Barilović Municipality issues water contamination warning

The Municipality of Barilović has issued a public health notice following the discovery of water contamination in the Šćulac and Siča areas. Water samples collected on September 17, 2026, and analyzed by the Karlovac County Institute of Public Health, revealed levels of bacteria exceeding safety standards.

In Šćulac Donji, tests identified total coliforms, Escherichia coli, and enterococci at levels exceeding 80/100 ml. In Siča – Lučica, total coliforms were found at levels above 80/100 ml, along with the presence of Escherichia coli and enterococci.

Because the presence of Escherichia coli indicates fecal contamination, authorities have advised residents not to use the water from these supply systems for drinking or food preparation until further notice or until control analyses confirm the water is safe.
