Barinas authorities recover remains of missing 19-year-old

Authorities in Barinas, Venezuela, have recovered the remains of 19-year-old Giovanny José Franco Camacho, who had been missing since November 21. Following technical-scientific investigations by the CICPC, police arrested Yerson Alfonzo Romero Romero, 24, identified as the primary intellectual and material author of the crime.

Romero confessed to the murder and led investigators to a shallow grave located in a residential patio in the Alto Barinas parish. The body had been buried and subsequently covered with concrete. According to police reports, the victim was attacked with blunt objects by a group of at least five individuals after being lured to a location near his home.

Law enforcement is currently searching for four other suspects involved in the homicide and the concealment of the body, including the suspect's 19-year-old brother, Luis Romero Romero, and an individual known as ‘el Virolo’. The investigation is being coordinated with the Public Ministry.
