Bari's Santa Caterina Overpass to Open in September

Ferrovie Appulo Lucane are completing an 80‑metre overpass at Santa Caterina in Bari's Picone district. The structure will replace the last level crossing in the city, providing two‑way vehicle traffic, a sidewalk for pedestrians and a dedicated bike lane.

Work began at the end of 2023 and has faced delays from utility interferences and heavy rain that slowed beam production. The project is funded by the Puglia region with an additional €5.6 million on top of the €18.9 million already allocated for similar works under the "Strade Nuove" program. Completion of construction and static tests is slated for August, with the overpass opening to traffic in September.
