Barkarbystaden begins construction on new residential and commercial quarters

Major construction projects have commenced in Barkarbystaden, Järfälla, as developers and local government officials break ground on new residential and commercial quarters near the upcoming subway station.

Åke Sundvall AB has started work on a central block that will include 315 new homes and 8,000 square meters of commercial space. This development is designed to provide direct access to the Barkarbystaden subway station, which is scheduled to begin operations in December 2027. The project is expected to be completed for move-in by early 2029.

Simultaneously, Reliwe AB, in collaboration with Järfälla Municipality, has broken ground on 'Quarter 10'. This high-rise development will feature a 24-story building, 355 new homes, and 1,035 square meters of commercial premises. Located near the new transit hub, the project aims to transform the area from an industrial zone into a vibrant urban environment, benefiting from improved connectivity via subway, bus, and rail services expected between 2026 and 2027.
