Barletta launches €16.7 million restoration of ex‑Convent Sant’Andrea
Work on the ex‑Convent of Sant’Andrea in Barletta began on Monday, 3 August, after a European‑tendered contract was awarded to the consortium Ge. di. Group s.p.a. with Consorzio Integra. The project, originally financed through PNRR funds and now covered by state money, totals €16.690 million, the largest public‑works investment in the city’s history. Mayor Cosimo Damiano Cannito and Urban‑Planning Assessor Pierpaolo Grimaldi attended the kickoff, noting the aim to restore the medieval structure, make the street pedestrian‑friendly, and convert the building into a centre for arts and crafts. Oversight is provided by the National Anti‑Corruption Authority and the Guardia di Finanza, with completion scheduled for 31 December 2027.
