Barmer and Rajsamand see political clashes during election nomination withdrawals

Political tensions escalated in Barmer and Rajsamand during the final day of nomination withdrawals for the 2026 Rajasthan municipal elections. In Barmer, leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress have been actively attempting to persuade rebel candidates to withdraw their nominations to avoid splitting the vote.

Clashes broke out between supporters of the BJP, Congress, and the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) during the process. In Nathdwara, Rajsamand, confrontations between BJP and Congress supporters led to shoving and chaos. In Barmer, an RLP candidate withdrew their nomination, citing personal security concerns and stating they had withdrawn in support of the BJP.

Following the 3:00 PM deadline for withdrawals, the final list of candidates and the allocation of election symbols will be released, setting the stage for the upcoming campaign period.
