Barnabás Varga praised by Greek media following AEK Athens success

Hungarian striker Barnabás Varga has been hailed by Greek media as a benchmark for future transfers at AEK Athens. Since joining from Ferencváros in January, Varga has made a significant impact, recording 15 goals and 2 assists in 33 appearances.

Greek analysts noted that Varga’s ability to integrate immediately into the squad was a decisive factor in the club's pursuit of the championship. While his €5 million transfer fee was initially considered high for a 31-year-old, manager Marko Nikolić insisted on the signing to bolster the team's title ambitions.

In recent action, AEK Athens suffered a 3–1 defeat against PAOK in the fourth round of the Greek Cup group stage. Both Varga and Milán Vitális were unavailable for the match, with Vitális being rested and Varga remaining on the bench, likely as the coaching staff prepares for upcoming high-stakes fixtures against Panathinaikos and Real Madrid.
