Barnegat Bay boat collision injures one, airlifted to Atlantic City
Two recreational vessels carrying four people collided in Barnegat Bay, about 10 miles east of Barnegat Light, at roughly 11:20 a.m. U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer 1st Class Matthew West said one passenger suffered arm and head injuries and was airlifted to Atlantic City Mainland Hospital. Both boats were later towed to Long Key Marina in Waretown.
In a separate incident the same day, a jet ski struck an unknown object off Point Pleasant Beach; a teen riding with his father was also airlifted for treatment. The accidents follow three fatal boating crashes in the bay earlier this month, which claimed the lives of two children and a 26‑year‑old man.
State police have not released further details on the causes of the collisions.
