Barnes Worldwide Travel ceases trading after 20 years

Barnes Worldwide Travel Ltd, a Liverpool-based independent travel agent founded in 2007, ceased trading on September 9. The company, which operated for nearly 20 years, offered holidays to various global destinations including Turkey, Egypt, Greece, and the United States.

ABTA has confirmed that bookings made through the agency should not be affected because the firm was not the operator of the holidays it sold. Customers are advised to contact the credit control department of their specific tour operator or principal travel business to ensure their trips proceed as planned. For flight-inclusive packages, the responsible party is listed on the ATOL Certificate under 'Who is protecting your trip'.

The closure comes amid a difficult period for the UK travel industry, with several other companies having ceased trading or entered administration in 2026, including Regen Central Ltd and Gold Crest Holidays.
