Barolo en Primeur auction raises record 1.14 million euros

The sixth edition of the Barolo en Primeur charity auction has raised a record 1,140,500 euros. Held at the Castello di Grinzane Cavour with connections to London and New York, the event was led by Christie’s Italia director Cristiano De Lorenzo.

Since 2021, the initiative has raised a total of 5,674,800 euros to support over 120 social, healthcare, educational, and cultural projects. This year, proceeds are specifically designated to support seasonal vineyard workers through initiatives such as the Accademia della Vigna and a temporary nocturnal reception service in Alba for workers without stable housing.

Auction lots included 14 barriques of 2025 Barolo Gustava, vinified by enologist Donato Lanati, and seven municipal lots consisting of 681 bottles of Barolo and Barbaresco donated by 39 wineries. The collection also featured 31 historic bottles dating back to 1996. The en primeur bottles feature labels inspired by the artwork ‘Paisaje de vino’ by Venezuelan artist Sol Calero and are scheduled for delivery in 2029.
