Barolo wine theft: 3,000 bottles stolen from Italian winery

More than 3,000 bottles of Barolo wine were stolen from the Conterno e Fantino winery in Monforte d'Alba, located in the Langhe region of Piedmont, Italy. The theft, which involved 2021 and 2022 vintages, is estimated to be worth several hundred thousand euros.

According to police reports and local media, a group of four masked individuals entered the facility through an unsecured window during the night. Surveillance footage shows the perpetrators acting with high levels of professionalism, using the winery’s own forklifts to load the bottles onto two delivery vans. To avoid detection by engine noise, the thieves reportedly pushed the vehicles approximately 100 meters to a road before starting the motors.

The entire operation lasted roughly three hours. Local authorities are currently investigating the incident, but the suspects and the stolen wine have not yet been located.
