Barqa village attacked by settlers near Ramallah

Settlers attacked the village of Barqa, east of Ramallah, resulting in injuries to a woman and her 10-year-old child. According to village council head Sayel Kanaan, settlers attacked an agricultural room, striking a woman in her fifties with stones and clubs, causing head bleeding and bruising. The child was also targeted with pepper spray, leading to suffocation.

During the incident, settlers reportedly raided a home in the eastern part of the village, assaulting women and children and destroying property. Israeli forces were present to provide protection for the settlers and detained several young men in the area. In a separate action, a group of settlers attacked the western side of the village, attempting to set fire to a vehicle workshop and a sheep pen.

Data from the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission indicates a high frequency of such incidents. In July, there were 2,256 recorded attacks against Palestinians and their property, consisting of 1,458 attacks by Israeli forces and 798 by settlers. The highest concentrations of these attacks were reported in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh, Nablus, Jenin, Bethlehem, and Hebron governorates.
