Barquisimeto hospital waiting room undergoes rehabilitation

Rehabilitation works have commenced on the Divina Pastora waiting room at the Hospital Central Universitario Dr. Antonio María Pineda (HCUAMP) in Barquisimeto, Lara State. The project aims to provide a dignified space for the families of hospitalized patients, who have spent over a decade sleeping outdoors on sidewalks due to the facility's closure in 2015.

Construction is currently in the phase of reconstructing plaster and facades, as well as repairing water and sewage systems in the bathrooms. Engineers report that air conditioning has been installed, with the installation of glass and ceilings expected shortly. The project is part of the city's 474th anniversary celebrations.

Reports indicate that funds for the renovation were reallocated from the suspended Barquisimeto International Fair following recent seismic activity in the region. The comprehensive project includes demolition of old ceilings, waterproofing, electrical network modernization, and improving internal communication with emergency areas.
