Barra hosts Festa dei Gigli cultural festival in Naples

The Festa dei Gigli di Barra, a significant cultural event in the Naples district of Barra, has announced its program running through September 28, 2026. Co-organized by the Municipality of Naples, the festival is recognized as part of the Campanian Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The month-long celebration includes music, exhibitions, and cultural meetings. The festivities will culminate in the 'Ballata dei Gigli' on Sunday, September 27, featuring the procession of eight massive wooden and papier-mâché structures known as 'Gigli'. These structures stand over 25 meters tall, weigh approximately 45 quintals, and are carried on the shoulders of dedicated groups.

The final event, the 'Ballata dei Gigli' for women and youth, is scheduled for Monday, September 28, starting at 20:00. The festival is expected to attract thousands of visitors, serving as a major local tradition and tourist attraction.
