Barracuda Networks launches AI Data Security solution

Barracuda Networks has launched Barracuda AI Data Security, a new solution designed to monitor and control the data employees input into artificial intelligence tools. The product aims to address the security gap created when workers adopt chatbots faster than organizations can implement governance policies.

Developed on the BarracudaONE platform, the tool is specifically targeted at smaller organizations and managed service providers (MSPs) that may lack the specialized resources required for enterprise-grade governance tools. The system can apply policies across more than 1,300 generative AI services, including ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Gemini.

The solution utilizes prebuilt detectors to scan prompts and uploads for sensitive information such as passwords, financial data, customer records, and proprietary source code, blocking them before they reach external models. Additionally, the engine identifies prompt injection, jailbreak attempts, and prohibited content, aligning its detection capabilities with the OWASP Top 10 for large language model applications. All AI interactions are recorded in audit logs to assist with compliance and insurance requirements.
