Barranca, Peru Begins Multi‑Street Road Resurfacing Project
The municipality of Barranca has launched a road resurfacing programme affecting nine streets. Work began on San Martín street, with subsequent phases planned for Sáenz Peña and the remaining streets. Municipal officials explained that the process starts with cleaning, removal of deteriorated material, leveling, and placement of granular base before any asphalt is laid. The preparatory steps, including priming and compacting the surface, are intended to ensure durability and longer pavement life. Residents were urged to recognize the visible soil and granular material as part of the construction sequence and to follow temporary signage while the works proceed.
Mayor Roberto Pozo supervised the kickoff and called on drivers and pedestrians to respect the signage and exercise patience throughout the project.
