Barranquilla bus robbery heightens security worries on La Cordialidad corridor

A Cotransa bus operating the Sabanalarga–Barranquilla route was robbed early Saturday morning near the San Martín neighborhood of Barranquilla. Two men dressed in security uniforms boarded the vehicle when it stopped to let a passenger off, intimidated the driver and passengers, and stole roughly 120,000 pesos, mobile phones and cash. Cotransa reported the incident, noting it is the sixth or seventh robbery it has recorded this year and warned passengers to avoid carrying large sums of money, using phones near windows, or resisting during an attack. The company urged authorities to increase security on the La Cordialidad corridor, where similar incidents have been reported against other bus operators. Police are reviewing surveillance footage to identify the suspects.
