Barranquilla Carnival royalty promotes Colombian culture in Madrid
The 2027 Barranquilla Carnival royalty participated in cultural events in Madrid, Spain, to promote Colombian traditions and strengthen ties between Barranquilla and the Spanish capital.
During her concert tour in Madrid, Shakira was joined by the Carnival royalty, including Queen Salwa Maloof, King Momo Abraham Cáceres, and the Children's Carnival royalty Isabella Daes and Pedro Fandiño. The encounter took place within the context of Macondo Park, a creative space associated with the artist's tour.
Additionally, Salwa Maloof and the other representatives participated in the traditional Hispanic Parade (Desfile de la Hispanidad). The procession traveled through Madrid's Gran Vía, featuring approximately 170 artists representing the Carnival. This international agenda, supported by Carnaval de Barranquilla S.A.S. and the Nativos de Macondo cultural association, aims to promote Barranquilla as a major cultural tourism destination.
