Barranquilla judge orders house arrest for CTI investigator in husband's death
A judge in Barranquilla has ordered house arrest for Chirley Mildred Hernández Rojas, a former investigator for the Technical Investigation Body (CTI), regarding the death of her husband, Aldemar Alfredo Avendaño Carrillo.
The incident occurred on March 21 in the Boston neighborhood of Barranquilla. The victim, a 52-year-old former secretary of justice for the Superior Court of Barranquilla, was found with multiple gunshot wounds. While Hernández Rojas initially claimed she was in another room when she heard shots, forensic evidence and projectile analysis led prosecutors to suggest she was responsible for the killing.
Prosecutors have charged Hernández Rojas with aggravated homicide and illegal possession of firearms. Although the prosecution requested prison detention due to her potential to obstruct investigations as a CTI official, the judge granted house arrest with electronic monitoring. The decision cited a lack of evidence regarding obstruction and the presence of a minor child under 10 years old in the household.
