Barranquilla prosecutor dies following aesthetic procedure
Authorities in Barranquilla are investigating the death of Geniffer Selene García Mozo, a 55-year-old specialized prosecutor for the Atlántico section. García Mozo passed away on Friday, August 8, following complications reported one day after undergoing a liposuction procedure (specifically a lipoval technique) at an aesthetic center in northern Barranquilla.
According to reports, the prosecutor experienced severe headaches and dizziness on Friday before being rushed to the Clínica Altos de San Vicente. Despite medical efforts to resuscitate her, she lost consciousness and died around 12:45 PM. The Technical Investigation Body (CTI) has taken charge of the investigation to reconstruct her final hours, and her body has been moved to Medicina Legal to determine the official cause of death.
This incident follows several other recent deaths related to aesthetic procedures in Barranquilla, including the July 22 death of 31-year-old Sara Milena Echeverría during a surgery. While authorities have not yet conclusively linked García Mozo's death to the aesthetic intervention, the recurring nature of such incidents has increased local scrutiny regarding medical safety standards in the city.
