San Juan authorities investigate death of Gendarmería trainee

Authorities in San Juan, Argentina, are investigating the death of Camila Agustina Vechiarello, a 26-year-old Gendarmería Nacional trainee, who was found dead in Barreal with multiple stab wounds. The case is being treated as a suspected femicide.

Her partner, 25-year-old Carlos Gonzalo Rivero, also a trainee, was found at the scene and has been detained. Following the discovery, Rivero reportedly attempted to take his own life and received medical attention before being transferred to police custody. Investigators recovered a note at the scene in which Rivero apologized to both families.

The victim, originally from Rosario, had moved to the region to complete her training. Forensic experts are analyzing evidence from the residence to determine the exact sequence of events and the full extent of the violence involved.
