Amazon Prime Video to release ‘Barreda’ true crime drama

Amazon Prime Video is releasing ‘Barreda’, a fictionalized drama based on one of Argentina’s most notorious criminal cases. Directed by Daniela Goggi, the film is scheduled to premiere on August 28, 2026.

The production dramatizes the 1992 case of Ricardo Barreda, a dentist who murdered his wife, mother-in-law, and two adult daughters in La Plata. Unlike many true crime narratives, the filmmakers have chosen to center the story on the victims rather than the perpetrator, aiming to restore their identities.

The cast features prominent actors including Luis Machín, Carla Peterson, Mercedes Morán, and Maite Lanata. The film is a co-production involving About Entertainment, Infinity Hill, and Amazon MGM Studios, based on research by journalists Josefina Licitra, Soledad Vallejos, and Florencia Etcheves.
